БВК[лат. vita — жизнь и англ. amino — группа NH2, от ammonia — аммиак, сокр. от лат. sal ammoniacus — соль Аммона, нашатырь; лат. con (cum) — с, вместе и centrum — центр, средоточие]белковый концентрат, полученный из кормовых дрожжей; продукт, богатый белком, аминокислотами, витаминами и другими биологически активными веществами. Производится микробиологической промышленностью гл. обр. выращиванием дрожжей на средах, содержащих гидролизаты различных отходов деревообрабатывающей промышленности, непищевые растительные материалы (подсолнечная лузга, стержни кукурузных початков и т.п.), сульфитные щелоки, углеводороды нефти и газа и др. Эффективно используется как добавка в корм с.-х. животных и птиц. Производство БВК на дешевом сырье рассматривают как одно из средств устранения растущего белкового дефицита в питании животных.Толковый биотехнологический словарь.
